When I saw this recipe in the doTERRA Living Magazine I knew it was something that I had to try. I am all about sneaking veggies into and fruit leather and I've had really good luck this past week finding some fabulous recipes that she loves. They make me feel better because I know I have snuck in some high-quality supplements and probiotics hidden behind the yummy flavors.
Here is one recipe for ya to try. As I mentioned the initial part of this recipe is from the doterra living magazine but the way that I always am I have to double it, make enough for an army and I have to tweak it just a little bit. I made a very delicious and yummy sugarcoating because why not it is a treat after all but it put some probiotics into the coating. Yes there's a high possibility that because it's sugar and a probiotic it me counteract itself but there's a chance it may not, that's what I'm going with because these probiotic and green gummy bears have been a hit at our house and I feel like some is better than none.
Sour Coated Terragreens Gummies
Ingredients:
Gummies
4cups of Fruit Juice-Any flavored will work
2tbsp. of Raw Honey
4 scoops of dōTERRA TerraGreens Powder*
12tbsp. Unflavored Gelatin
Gummy Bear Mold
Coating
1 cup sugar-powdered sugar would work too
1-2 tsp citric acid
2 sachet packets of PB Assist Jr*
Directions:
Bring fruit juice to a boil. I have used Apple juice watermelon juice (pretty much apple juice) and Grape juice. They all have been delicious.
Remove from heat and let cool for a couple minutes, but not too much you want it to be warm enough to melt the honey and the gelatin. Stir in honey-any kind of honey should work. I was lucky enough to score a huge gallon of local raw honey so that's what I used. In my eyes if you can get it, raw local honey is best and has its own benefits. Add TerraGreens one scoop at a time until well Incorporated.
Sprinkle gelatin in 1 tbsp. at a time, stirring constantly with a wire whisk so the gelatin doesn’t clump. Again there are health benefits to a good high quality gelatin. I would suggest using anything that is grass fed and unflavored.
I use a syringe to poor the liquid into the molds. I have an awesome big syringe from when my daughter was in the NICU that I like to use. You can buy them in the baking isle or kitchen supply. I used a whole myriad of molds. I had gummy bear molds, little star molds, skull molds, wanted different sizes, and let's face it, it was fun to see all the shapes. You can also add it to a foil lined cooking sheet and cut it into shapes that you like with small cookie cutters or just cut it into cubes. It doesn't need to be fancy, you can keep it simple and easy with a baking sheet. Refrigerate 2 hours or until solid.
In a bowl combine sugar, citric acid and packets of PB Assist Junior. After the Gummies have set and right before eating, roll them in the sugar to coat the gummies. To be honest for some reason the sugarcoating turns liquid and soggy if it sits too long, so coat them in small batches right before eating and enjoy them quickly. If you know how to fix that little glitch please let me know.
Keep plain non sugared leftover gummies in the fridge. Enjoy plain or coated they are delicious either way!
